San Juan del Sur

On Wednesday we headed to San Juan del Sur (SJDS)  to meet our lawyer. To get there we trekked down to Playa Maderas and took the shuttle.

First we went to pick up a nice red truck we had rented, as well as going to get sim cards for our phones.

San Juan is located on a beautiful bay on the south-western Pacific coast of Nicaragua. Formerly a sleepy fishing town, it now attracts surfers and mainly young adventure travellers as there are a string of absolutely gorgeous beaches nearby to the north and south of this town.

There are many hostels catering to young travellers, as well as beautiful homes in the surrounding hills that can be rented for holidays. There is also a friendly and fairly large expat community of Canadians - they even celebrate Canadian thanksgiving in SJDS! This is the place to buy groceries and gas, find souvenirs, and try out their restaurants.

We drove up to the northern tip of the bay to look at Cristo de la Misericordia, and to take pictures of the town from this lookout point.

From there we decided to go and see the casita.
