Rancho Chilamate

Rancho Chilamate is located 20 minutes south of SJDS, close to Playa Hermosa. The hacienda is solar-powered. The owner Meg, from the States, lets her horses roam around the property, keeping the grass well trimmed.

It had a huge ranch style living room and communal kitchen with very high ceilings that we were able to use to cook our meals.

While I enjoyed this place, the space was shared with the owners, who often hung out at the pool and played music non-stop, not always to my taste.

At night giant toads would come out that were about four to six inches long. And the starry night sky was absolutely gorgeous.

They took me horse riding into the beautiful surrounding countryside. I imagined living on a small farm in that area in another lifetime...

While looking to escape the noisy pool, I went for a walk down by the river and ended up getting bitten by the neighbour's dog. From then on it seemed that wherever I went, dogs seemed to sense my new fear and would come up to me and follow me.
